blogtoberfest #31 ~ the end + 1

Well I made it – with one one extra post thrown in for good measure ;)

Blogtoberfest has come to end for another year, I had fun and will miss it – thanks again to Tinnie Girl, for hosting once more! And of course Curly Pops her trusty assistant… and all the beautiful bloggers who participated & kept me reading late into the night ~ every night!

Check out what I found in my garden today! A teeny little pineapple… we planted the top head of a pineapple YEARS ago and it’s always grown, but never bore fruit till now! I think I’ve finally found my green thumb (although my poor neglected, currently “green flowered” hydrangeas are not agreeing with that sentiment ;)

Do not be surprised if I’m missing in action over the next month… I signed myself up for NaNoWriMo for November. EEEKKK!!!! 

I highly doubt I will get anywhere near the 50,000 words required to ‘win’… heck 31 days has Blogtoberfest and I only managed 4,355 words (yes I went back and counted them)
However the time has come ~ decisions have been made ~ steps are in motion & this is a little leap toward the grand plan! 
Wish me luck & I will see you back here on December 1st  for the annual Advent Blog~a~Long (more than likely you will see me before then – as I do find it hard to stay away)

blogtoberfest #30 ~ recovery

I went out to a 50th birthday party last night… I had forgotten just how bad a hangover really feels like… needless to say we have had a quiet day of recovery and I pulled out the paints and pens and got messy just being. I tell you it was good for the soul and good for the sore head ;)

These pages (some done earlier this month) have finished the “Tell your Story” class I started back in April. There are still a few more prompts that I’m going to use to fill in the rest of the pages in the book along with some prompts I found online.

After 12 months – I finally made it to the hairdresser today!

I’m now sporting a shorter & lighter do & I now have  a fringe – sort of!

& less Oscar the Grouch(ish) eyebrows!!!

And don’t you hate it when THIS happens! I’ve printed the label or my EBDQ swap that is due in the mail this week… first print through on blank paper – worked FINE, second print through on fabric paper… It chewed it and cut off the first little edge *sigh*

it's late. I've done nothing to organize for tomorrow, which means Ill be on the back foot before I get out the door *sigh* no idea how working mums do this full time. plus I have to work Wednesday for DH.

blogtoberfest #24 ~ loose ends

Although I’ve been feeling unmotivated & tired today, I did sew a few more blocks for my Christmas tree skirt – got as far as sewing the blocks into rows. Hopefully I will be able to piece them together during the week. I also started knitting up a mini stocking from our disaster dyed wool last weekend.   
With 1 week to go until mailing date on both the EB Doll Quilt and Great Stocking Swap, I’m nearly done. I am wrapping the Stocking Swap now and am hopeful at posting it by Wednesday at the latest.
I just have to add a label to the back of the Doll Quilt, then that will be ready to send too. If I get cracking and design my label tonight, I should also get this on  the mail by Wednesday. I had a serious case of cold feet after the quilt show on Friday… but after sewing the binding down last night, I am pretty happy with it. Still not 100% sure my partner will love it, but I actually quite like it and will be a little sad to see it leave this week. I guess that in itself is as good as any approval rating.  

blogtoberfest #23a ~ craft fair!

Two posts in one day! Yesterday we headed to Bris-vegas for the annual Quilt show & Craft Fair. I think it’s suffice to say I spent far too much money ;)  although most of the things I bought were required items!

New Blades, A quarter inch bias maker, hexagon papers, a few beads and a Book on Amigurumi patterns PLUS the Return to Elm Creek Quilts pattern book.

I also stopped by a scrapping stand and bought some much needed papers for Christmas cards, a stamp scrubber and a sheet of journalling block stamps. Of course added to my recent order from the Stampin up Party I attended, it now looks like I own a HEAP of stamps!!!

So I was relatively well behaved this year… my mum on the other hand… She was VERY naughty and spoilt Miss K and I like crazy (hey don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely NOT complaining as she bought the coveted items on my list)

 

She bought this uber cool cot quilt kit for me to make… I’m hoping she didn’t buy it with a hidden agenda ;) I will be making it as a lap quilt for Miss K to snuggle under.

Aren’t those little owls, so cute!!!

She also bought this little snowman pattern + a Christmas swag  too…

Thanks so much Mum, you really didn’t have to buy all this for us! We are feeling very spoilt today!

blogtoberfest #22 ~ tired

Late night last night, a few hours sleep, early morning bookwork & an early drive to Bris-vegas for the annual Craft and Quilt fair PLUS a late night home… has me tired to post anything coherent. Tomorrow there will be photos, lots of photos – we bought a LOT!!!

& to top off an already GREAT day, my camera bag arrived in the post today *YAY* that too will be photographed tomorrow… but in the meantime – CAM, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!

blogtoberfest #21 ~ craft

 

The girl and I decided to dye some wool over the weekend… what was meant to be 2 colour jelly crystalled wool… ended up becoming a complete rainbow of colours when the jelly used (woolworths select brand) just wasn’t packing a punch. That and the fact I rinsed it under the tap BEFORE zapping it in the microwave. I then added food colouring. Then rinsed it BEFORE zapping it in the microwave… By this point I was frustrated with myself and the girl had long since lost interest so I literally poured the food colouring (pink, green and yellow) all over it and ended up with a very dubious looking colour scheme. My aim is to knit up some Mini Christmas stockings with it…

I’m off to the Brisbane Craft Fair tomorrow. YAY!  Will be an early morning so I bid you goodnight ;)

Do you lack organisation skills?

I do.

I am trying to incorporate a few small things into my life to ensure it runs smoother than it has in the last few months. I am hoping a few small changes will make me feel less burnt out at the end of the day.

A new “Nude Food” lunch box for Miss K to take to Daycare. Apart from the fact there is no ‘plastic’ wrap required on any of her lunch, (which is great because I’m now saving the environment and all) it is now so much easier (and actually heaps of fun) filling all the compartments ;) and did I mention QUICK! 

Why don’t you get yours’ today? I got ours from Woolworths ~ on special last week for only $9.95 YAY!

Blue Skies! The sun was shining today ~ minus the wind & rain!

So we ventured outside and had a picnic lunch on the grass!

My computer died :(
I think it can be fixed...
I am hopeful it can be fixed before Tuesday which happens to be the cutoff date for the Snapfish 2011 calendar special. If I miss the deadline I could always take a leaf out of Skips book and design and print my own. Of course all my recent photos are on the broken computer and as luck would have it... None are backed up - silly, silly me :(

Meanwhile you will find me knitting, hand sewing, reading and starting (another) quilt... Well really it is a tree skirt for my christmas tree.

I have my work computer inside now, so at least I can download photos and continue blogtoberfest, so alls not lost!

Our errands today took us inland to a little town about 30 minutes away, we decided to stop & eat at the Storybrook Cottage, set in a cute cottage garden. A quick walk through the gardens before the grey sky opened up on us AGAIN… I did manage to capture a little colour in this otherwise dreary day… seriously where has our sun gone :( 

I am hankering for a macro lens!! Might have to add to my Christmas wish list!!! 

For now, I must go and do some bookwork… my job is never done ;)

It seems I may own too many books…

This does not include the 15 piled up in front of the bookcase…. 

Nor does it include the 94L box in the cupboard (packed solid)…

Nor does it include the shelf in office cupboard that is piled twice high…

Nor does it include the many books that my mum is currently babysitting…

Nor does it include the 2 new books winging their way from the Book Depository…

Let’s not mention that my daughter also has a bookshelf bursting at the seams ;)

My task for tomorrow is to get this shelf in order, surely there is a way to fit more books!!!

I never realised how difficult it was to do self portraits, but when Tinnie girl throws down a challenge – I am up for it! After 25 blurry and horribly gross shots using the self timer, I remembered I had a remote control that had never been used… 10 shots later - this was the best I could come up with…
