Last year I joined a Fabric Ban… yes, yes we all know how I lasted a WHOPPING 6 days before breaking said ban. However although I still continued to buy fabric last year, I purchased it with projects in mind. That said - the MAJORITY of my purchases were fat quarters destined for my Dear Jane Quilt.
This year I lifted the self imposed ban and will buy fabric without guilt once more… BUT I will also be more intent and actual buy for projects in mind rather than buying just because I can.
I've had 3 fabric related parcels arrive all within days of each and while Hubby was on holidays… whoops! So each parcel of fabric sat in my craft room awaiting that moment I could get to it. Do you fondle fabric? Or is that just weird of me???
The first to arrive were 2 charm packs of Kona Solids. Hubby came good with Christmas gift giving and gifted me with The Farmers Wife book! Now I need to settle on what colours to run with the brights or the classic or mix it up between the two. Next decision is how much of each colour do I want to buy! Time to start saving some pennies!
Next package on the list was the first of my Rainbow colours. I've sort of convinced myself to start a Rainbow Jane and while I looked at the BOM offered through the Twiddletails store, adding up the end total sort of freaked me out. As well they are a 22month BOM and I know as well as anyone that anything can happen in 2 years. Thus sorted, I decided I will purchase fat quarters in different colours of the rainbow and started my collection with the Red pack!
And the Aqua came home too. I had to think about freight costs you know! Over the next month or two I will order another 2 colour ranges to my collection!
While I was shopping I added a few more red 30's collection to my basket, which *should* combined with another four colours I found give me enough red to finish my original Dear Jane.
And that brings me to the dilemna of the Browns. In a way I REALLY wish I was only doing 1 round of browns in my original quilt rather than 2 rounds. And it is FAR too late to go back and change the colours and redo all the blocks in a new colour way. So I am sticking to it, but struggling to find anything that suits me and my tastes. Lets just say brown and I have had a hate / hate relationship since my school days!!!
I've also struggled in that each time I find a brown I half like, it is sold as minimum half metre which means I am going to be inundated with BROWNS when I'm finished!!! LUCKILY I stumbled across this pack of Just Judie fabrics. Apparently there is a quilt competition in the states using these packs, all I saw was an opportunity to finish my brown collection for my Dear Jane! Hopefully with this lot I will have enough fabric for the central blocks. Then it will be time to start working on the dreaded triangles!

You have got some stunning fabrics in that lot. i love the reds and aquas, and while your browns are not to my particularl taste I think they will look perfect in your Dear Jane - they have that vintagey feel and your Dear Jane is so teeny tiny... :-)
E xx
Purty!
I have some browns you might like! I'll bring them next time!
