A few weeks back, I picked up a copy of F_NISH TH_S B__K. Another of Keri Smiths' creations. Remember my fun with Wreck this Journal? I can't believe I haven't done an update on it in so long - though I have completed a few more pages since then! I love how free-ing the WTJ was which I think helped me with my art journalling. So when I stumbled over this book and realised it was more aimed at the Writer within and taking a journey - I thought what the heck and forked over my $16.95.
{apologies if I already shared this photo with you… I am trying to keep up with what I have and have not blogged yet}
After the puzzling adventure there was a little purple paint left on the roller, so I grabbed this book and started rolling it on. Not caring that I was ruining its pretty tan-brown finish. It is now sporting purple splotches and feels more ME. As well I went straight over the top of the price sticker (silly girl) so now I have a postage stamp sized unpainted blank spot in the top right corner. It was purely intentional.
I sat on Saturday afternoon and I played in my new book.
I was quickly surrounded by craft supplies of all types and need remember to use the arty suitcase for future play dates with my book on the back patio!
The afternoon passed pleasantly and that coffee and choc-chip cookies went down a treat as I took photos, worked out how to draw 3D shapes and I added colour to each page of my new Book. It didn't say to add colour. Then again, it didn't say NOT to either! So I did.
In the early pages it called to create a sign to hang on the door. I won't remove it from the book - it looks too darn good in there! By late afternoon I had one full page zentangle inspired sign stating:
Do Not Disturb… Writing in Progress (unless you come bearing coffee or chocolate)
This project is likely a grand time waster - but I honestly don't care. To me it's another small form of being creative and if I enjoy the creative process - then that's the whole point… right?
What about you - have you embarked on anything recently that is a completely selfish ME project?

It's only wasting time if you don't enjoy it! As long as you're having fun, you're doing exactly what time is there for :-)
E xx
Being creative is good for the brain and the soul, so not wasting time at all.
You deserve a little bit of ME time Car!
Loved spotting a little bit of CurlyPops in your snap too.
